Assisted living data is scattered across state licensing records, Medicaid certification lists, and county subsidy programs. We clean, compare, and normalize those sources so families can search with more confidence.
We collect public source data
We start with official public data from Maryland assisted living licensing records, Community Options Waiver certification lists, and county subsidy program information.
We standardize facility names and addresses
Facility names often appear differently across systems — for example, "BestCare II," "Best Care 2," or "BestCare Assisted Living, LLC." We clean names, addresses, phone numbers, ZIP codes, and other fields so records can be compared accurately.
We identify likely duplicate or related records
We compare facilities across datasets using names, addresses, license information, and program participation. This helps identify when the same provider appears differently in separate systems.
We flag inconsistencies
When licensing, Medicaid, or subsidy data does not line up, we mark it for review instead of hiding the issue. This helps prevent families from relying on outdated or incomplete information.

We built AssistedLivingDirect.org because Maryland families need a clearer, more neutral way to understand their options. As a nonprofit project, our focus is public access: helping families find licensed assisted living facilities, understand subsidy pathways, and compare basic information without being steered by referral fees.
